Conductor Stranding Properties | Class Follow Up

Conductor Stranding – This post deals directly with a question regarding conductor properties, specifically conductor stranding information listed in the NEC Chapter 9 Table 8. While the question pertained to the relationship between stranding characteristics and overall characteristics which is simply the properties of each strand vs. the overall conductor.

I want to go further to explain why you may notice that the stranded conductors you use contain more or less strands than listed in the NEC  table. This is because the NEC only shows us one of several different classes of stranding, class B or standard stranding. Below is a pdf document I found that shows information about the other stranding classes which may help you identify which class of stranding you are working with and the properties of that conductor and its strands.
